about low energy design

low energy design is a division of ndesign consulting engineers and was set up early 2009 to concentrate on building simulation. ndesign consulting engineers has been operating since April 2005 and continues to provide a full building services consultancy with emphasis on sustainable and low energy designs. Please follow thislinkfor more information.

low energy design office locationOur offices are located in the Newhaven Enterprise Center in Newhaven, East Sussex. The center was opened in September 2007 and provides modern comfortable facilities. Newhaven is just east of Brighton and has a local train service to London Victoria and a ferry port with regular sailing to Dieppe and Le Harve.

From this location we are conveniently located for London and the South-east region of the UK. As the majority of the building simulation work is desk based, we work on projects across the whole of the UK and overseas.

The software used for building simulation is the INTEGRATED ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS <VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT> package. Please follow thislinkfor more information direct from IES. The IES software allows integration with a number of commercial drawing packages. We have been working with architectural practices on the integration of ARCHICAD drawings and GOOGLE SKETCHUP models into the IES suite. Integration allows the building form to be directly translated from the drawing software into the building simulation software, thus saving time and resources and allowing a more accurate representation of the building.

Our engineers are fully trained and accredited in the IES software. They also hold a range of professional qualifications in Building Services Engineering as well as professional membership of the CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEERS (CIBSE), registered LOW CARBON CONSULTANTS and ENERGY ASSESSORS.

We are able to provide the building simulation output files in reports or in raw data for use in your own documents and reports.
